April is Jazz Appreciation Month.
April 30 is International Jazz Day.
Last year I hosted a JazzDay blogging event, celebrating the entire month, sharing music and articles about jazz concerts. You can find my Jazz Appreciation Month playlist here.
This year I’ll try to catch as many concerts as I can to celebrate as I truly should. All I can do is recommend some jazz venues for my local readers.
ARCUB – all the cultural events in Bucharest happen with Arcub, including Bucharest Jazz Festival. A very interesting jazz programme right now is Artist in Residence, where we had, and still have, the opportunity to meet amazing musicians and their brand new projects in a modern setup. Truly refreshing!
JazzBook – great music all the time, live concerts, only awesome musicians, friendly vibe.
Infinitea – a cozy tea shop that loves to host small jazz gatherings. Great variation of teas and coffees, also healthy snacks and desserts, all in a library kind of atmosphere.
Also, Twin Arts brings every year a great number of the very best jazz musicians from all over the world, so you should follow their schedule and make sure you don’t miss out on those events. Their concerts usually take place at Sala Palatului, Sala Radio or Control Club.
I will use this opportunity to lightly refer you to my Jazz Concert Etiquette article. Remember that jazz music is meant to be listened.
I hope you are inspired to get closer to this music if you haven’t already and explore great Romanian and international artists.
Coming soon: Romania celebrates International Jazz Day.
